Images and Web Disk are optional cPanel tools. The first can help manipulate stored images; the second supports remote access to files through compatible clients. Neither should be a shortcut around permissions or backups.
Work on image copies
- Keep the original artwork privately and identify where the site uses it.
- Open Images and choose the supported operation, such as scaling or thumbnails.
- Use a copy or a separate destination. Preserve the aspect ratio unless cropping is intentional.
- Check the result on the page at phone and desktop sizes. Verify that text in advertisements remains legible.
Resizing a picture does not automatically update every reference to it or repair an inefficient page layout. Retain accessible alternative text in the website itself.
Evaluate Web Disk access
If you need remote file mounting, ask support for the secure connection details and supported client. Restrict the account to the smallest necessary directory and grant read-only access where suitable. Test the scope before use.
Avoid mounting the entire hosting home directory on an unmanaged shared computer. Review cached credentials and revoke access when a device or contractor is no longer trusted. Use your normal deployment process for application code rather than editing live files through several tools at once.
