Track Delivery can show the mail events retained by your hosting service. It is a diagnostic tool, not proof that a human opened a message or that a remote service placed it in the inbox.
Follow one message
- Note the sender, recipient and approximate sending time, including time zone.
- Open Track Delivery and search with the available address and report controls.
- Inspect the matching event details. Distinguish successful handoff, deferral and rejection.
- Read the actual diagnostic before making changes. A full mailbox needs a different response from a DNS or authentication failure.
- Retest once after the specific repair and compare events.
Understand the limits
Logs have retention limits and may not include messages sent through an unrelated external SMTP provider. A remote system accepting a message does not guarantee inbox delivery. Ask the recipient to inspect spam or quarantine where appropriate.
For support, provide a redacted event, timestamp and the sending service. Do not send passwords, complete customer message bodies or unrelated mailbox exports. Avoid repeated resend attempts that create duplicates while an earlier message is still queued. Preserve a useful bounce message instead of deleting it immediately.
